Scores and facts come from the same data files as our reviews. Facts last verified 2026-07-22 · How we rate

W88 and Dafabet are two of the longest-running Asian sportsbook brands, both built their profiles on English football shirt deals, and both put a sportsbook and a casino behind a single account. The difference that decides this comparison is not the betting product. It is that one of them tells you which company runs it and which regulator licenses it, and the other, as of this month, does not.

On the scores in our two reviews, Dafabet leads by 7.6 to 7.0 overall. W88 wins on support and has the simpler welcome offer, the two tie on payout speed, and Dafabet is ahead on games and, by a full point, on trust. The licensing checks behind that trust gap were rerun for this page on 18 October 2026, and they moved further in Dafabet’s favour than our July data suggested, with one caveat on Dafabet’s side that we set out below.

What Each Site Says About Who Runs It

Dafabet answers the question in its footer. The site names Osmila N.V., a limited liability company incorporated in Curaçao on 28 June 2007 with company registration number 102267, and gives its registered office as the Livestrong Building on Groot Kwartierweg in Curaçao. Its terms of use add that the British site is operated by SCGO, a Maltese company licensed by the UK Gambling Commission under account 44662, and name separate licensed entities for Spain and for Kenya, where Asian Betting and Gaming Enterprises Africa holds licence number 845 from the Betting Control and Licensing Board. You may or may not like that structure, but it is a structure you can check.

W88 does not answer it. The site at w88.com now forwards Malaysian visitors to a ringgit-denominated domain whose footer reads only “©2026 W88. All rights reserved | 21+”. Its English terms for Malaysia, served from a separate info-centre domain, refer throughout to “the Operator” without ever naming one, and the section where a licence statement would normally sit says only that a player may complain “to the relevant licensing authority” without saying which. The page source tells a slightly different story: earlier wording naming an operating company, Marquee Holdings Limitada, and the Tobique Gaming Commission as its regulator is still in the file but commented out, so readers never see it. We are not treating hidden text as a licence claim, because an operator cannot be held to wording it has chosen not to publish, and we have not verified that wording against any register.

The practical consequence is simple. If a dispute with Dafabet goes nowhere, you know which company to name and which regulator’s process to look up. If a dispute with W88 goes nowhere, the terms give you nobody to escalate to.

The Registers, Searched

Statements on an operator’s own site are only the start, so we checked the public registers directly.

The Curaçao Gaming Authority’s online licence registry, last updated 14 October 2026, lists Osmila N.V. under licence OGL/2024/1276/0583, with the same company registration number Dafabet prints in its footer. The entry shows an issue date of 15 April 2026, an expiry of 15 October 2026, and the status “Assessment in progress”. That status is not unusual: it appears against 294 entries in the same registry, including others whose terms end this month, which suggests a renewal process rather than an enforcement step. But the listed term ended three days before we published this page, and a licence under assessment is not the same as a licence renewed. If you are weighing Dafabet on licensing grounds, open the latest registry PDF and look for the entry yourself before you deposit. Our guide on how to check a casino licence shows where Curaçao’s lists live and what each status means.

The UK Gambling Commission’s public register shows SCGO Limited, account 44662, with active remote licences for casino, real-event betting, virtual-event betting and pool betting, and lists dafabet.co.uk among its domains with the status “White Label”. That cover applies to the British site and British customers only. It says nothing about dafabet.com, which is the site most Asian players would actually reach.

The Philippine side is where both brands come up empty. PAGCOR’s lists of accredited gaming system administrators and registered brands and domains, dated 8 October 2026, include neither W88 nor Dafabet. Both brands have long been associated in affiliate copy with First Cagayan and the Cagayan Economic Zone Authority, and our W88 data still records that association, but we found no public CEZA list of interactive gaming licensees to confirm it for either operator. So the Philippine licences that once headlined both brands count for nothing in this comparison.

Put together, Dafabet has one verifiable licence for its main site, under review for renewal, plus a UK white label for a different site. W88 has nothing it currently states and nothing we could find.

The Sportsbooks

This is where the two are closest, and where neither gives you much that is checkable beyond the product itself.

W88’s own description of its betting product leads with Asian handicap, alongside odds/even and high/low markets, in-play betting, and match statistics and head-to-head records for members. Our review data records its sportsbook as running on SABA, BTi and SBOBET feeds, which is a common pattern for Asian operators: several white-label books under one wallet rather than one in-house trading desk. That gives a player more than one set of prices on the same match, which is useful if you are prepared to compare them. If handicap lines are new to you, our Asian handicap guide explains how quarter and half lines settle before you look at either book.

Dafabet’s betting menu shows two separate books, OW Sports and Dafa Sports, with virtual sports, a number game and esports alongside. Its sponsorship roster on the same page is heavy with cricket, including the official betting partnership of several English county sides and an associate partnership with Cricket South Africa, while it lists Celtic as its main club sponsorship in football. That fits the markets our data records for it, which start with India and Bangladesh, and it is the clearest difference in emphasis between the two: Dafabet markets itself around cricket as much as football, while W88’s markets in our data are mostly Southeast Asian and its marketing history is almost entirely football.

Neither operator publishes its margins, settlement statistics or a limits policy we could read without an account. Claims about “competitive odds” on either site are marketing. The only meaningful comparison is the price each book offers on the specific market you bet, at the time you bet it.

Sponsorships Are Marketing, Not Credentials

Both brands lean on English football, and it is worth being clear about what that does and does not prove.

W88’s site lists its own history under the heading “Our Previous Sponsorships”: Sunderland for 2025–26, Burnley for 2023–24, Fulham for 2022–23, the Argentine Football Association in 2022, Crystal Palace for 2020–21, Aston Villa for 2019–20, Leicester City from 2018 to 2020 and Wolves for 2018–19. Every one of those deals, including Sunderland, now sits under the word “previous”. Dafabet’s current list is weighted to cricket and to Celtic.

A club taking a shirt sponsor checks that the sponsor can pay. It does not audit the sponsor’s licensing for the markets where its customers live, and it gives an Asian player no route to a refund. Neither brand’s football history should move your view of its licensing in either direction.

Bonuses and Payouts

On bonuses W88 is the easier offer to understand, though Dafabet scores half a point higher on the strength of its larger caps. W88’s Malaysian Club W casino offer in our data is a 100% match up to MYR 1,288 at 15x the bonus within 30 days, with a separate sportsbook welcome bonus capped at MYR 1,088. Dafabet’s data records a 100% casino match up to ₹20,000 at 20x the bonus, plus two sportsbook tiers that carry either 15x or 40x on deposit and bonus combined, depending which you pick. That 40x on deposit plus bonus is a very different obligation from 15x on the bonus alone: on a 1,000 deposit with a matching 1,000 bonus, it means 80,000 of turnover against 15,000. Read which base applies before you accept anything, and treat any bonus as a reason to deposit less rather than more.

Payout speed scores 6.5 on both sides, but for different reasons. W88’s range in our data runs from half a day to three days, with first withdrawals adding a verification window. Dafabet’s runs from a couple of hours to three days, but its review records a large volume of Trustpilot and PissedConsumer complaints describing withdrawals held for weeks under “validation checks”. Neither figure comes from withdrawals we made. If you do play at either, complete identity checks before you need to withdraw, and keep dated records of every exchange; our guide to what to do when a casino won’t pay out sets out the order of escalation, which for W88 stops at the operator’s own support desk.

Where Each Is Available

Dafabet’s terms list a long set of prohibited jurisdictions that includes Singapore, Australia, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and the Philippines, along with the United States and much of Europe. Malaysia is not on that list. W88 runs a ringgit site with DuitNow and Touch ‘n Go among its payment badges, and its visible terms say only that it may restrict countries without notice.

Availability is not legality. In Malaysia no online casino or sportsbook can be licensed, and the Common Gaming Houses Act and, for Muslim players, state Syariah law apply regardless of which site you use, as our online casino Malaysia guide explains. In Singapore, betting with an unlicensed operator is an offence for the player under the Gambling Control Act 2022. This page is not legal advice.

Verdict: Dafabet, Because You Can See Who Runs It

Dafabet wins this comparison on the one criterion the title asks about. It names its operator, that operator is on a national register with a matching company number, its British site is covered by a UK licence that the regulator’s own register confirms, and it lists which countries it will not serve. Those are the basic facts a player needs before a dispute, and W88’s current terms provide none of them.

The win comes with two qualifications. Dafabet’s Curaçao licence was past its listed expiry and under assessment when we checked, so its strongest credential needs re-checking rather than trusting. And its withdrawal complaint record is the worst part of its profile, so its better licensing tells you who to complain to, not that you will not need to.

W88 keeps real strengths: the lower and clearer wagering on its main welcome offer, better-rated support, a Malaysia-facing cashier and a multi-feed sportsbook. A player who already uses it and has been paid reliably has no reason to panic. But a new player choosing between the two on sportsbook and licensing has a clear answer, because only one of them will tell you who it is.

How We Compared Them

Scores, payout ranges, payment methods and bonus terms on this page come from our two casino data files, last verified on 22 July 2026, which also power both reviews. The licensing checks were rerun for this page on 18 October 2026: we read W88’s Malaysian English terms and Dafabet’s terms of use and footer, and searched the Curaçao registry dated 14 October 2026, the UK Gambling Commission register entry for SCGO Limited and PAGCOR’s lists dated 8 October 2026. Where those checks differ from our older review data, notably on W88’s stated licence, this page follows the newer check. We did not place bets or make withdrawals at either operator for this comparison.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is W88 or Dafabet better?

On our data Dafabet is ahead, 7.6 overall against W88's 7.0, and most of the gap is trust. Dafabet names its operating company, Osmila N.V., and that company appears on the Curaçao Gaming Authority's online licence registry; W88's current Malaysian terms name neither a company nor a regulator. W88 scores better on support and has the more readable welcome bonus, and the two tie on payout speed, so the result depends on how much weight you give to knowing who holds your money.

Which licence does W88 hold?

We cannot tell you, because W88 no longer says. The English terms on its Malaysian site, read on 18 October 2026, name no operating company and no licensing authority, although the page source still contains hidden passages that once named one. Our review data records a long-cited First Cagayan (CEZA) licence that we could not confirm against any public list, and neither W88 nor Dafabet appeared in PAGCOR's brand and domain list dated 8 October 2026.

Is Dafabet licensed in Curaçao?

Its operator is on the register. The Curaçao Gaming Authority's online licence registry, last updated 14 October 2026, lists Osmila N.V., company registration 102267, under licence OGL/2024/1276/0583, issued 15 April 2026 with an expiry of 15 October 2026 and the status 'Assessment in progress', which the registry shows for many licences awaiting renewal. Check that entry again before depositing, because the listed term has now passed.

Which has the better sportsbook, W88 or Dafabet?

Both are full Asian-style sportsbooks rather than casinos with a betting tab. Our W88 data records sportsbook feeds from SABA, BTi and SBOBET, and W88 describes Asian handicap, odds/even and high/low markets with in-play betting. Dafabet runs two separate books, OW Sports and Dafa Sports, alongside virtual sports, a number game and esports, and its sponsorships lean heavily on cricket. Neither publishes margin figures, so compare prices on the specific market you bet rather than trusting either brand's claims.

Can I use W88 or Dafabet from Malaysia or Singapore?

Dafabet's terms list Singapore, Australia, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and the Philippines among its prohibited jurisdictions; Malaysia is not on that list, and W88 runs a Malaysian ringgit site. Neither is lawful for a Malaysian player, because no online casino or sportsbook can be licensed there, and in Singapore using an unlicensed site is an offence for the player as well as the operator.
