Playtech is a London-listed software company that has been supplying online casinos since 1999. It builds the platform some operators run their whole business on, and the slots, live dealer tables, poker and bingo that appear in many other casinos’ lobbies. It does not take bets from players through those casinos. Six of the casinos we have reviewed list Playtech among their game suppliers. This page sets out what we could confirm about the company in October 2026: the licence it holds in Great Britain, how its live casino business has grown and moved, what its 2025 accounts say about its Asian business, and which of its game figures are actually published.

On sourcing: playtech.com does not load from the network we research from, so Playtech’s own pages below come from archived copies, dated in the sources list. Its full-year results for 2025 and the UK Gambling Commission register were read directly on 20 October 2026.

The Platform Underneath the Games

The “legacy” in Playtech’s case is a technical one. Long before live studios were common, Playtech sold operators a complete casino in a box: the account and wallet system, the games, the payments and the back-office tools. In its 2017 press releases that system is called IMS. Today the same role is filled by its PAM+ platform. Playtech still describes itself as a “full proprietary, end-to-end, turnkey” supplier, and its results say that its software-as-a-service arm, which sells content to operators who do not run on PAM+, earned €118.1 million in 2025, up 48%.

That matters to you as a player for one practical reason. At a casino built on a supplier’s platform, the login, the cashier and the game lobby can all be the supplier’s technology under the casino’s branding. The decisions about your money, such as bonus rules, verification and withdrawals, are still the casino’s.

Playtech’s size and shape in 2025, according to its results announcement and its About Us page:

MeasureFigure
Founded1999
ListingMain Market of the London Stock Exchange
Revenue from continuing operations, 2025€763.6 million
Of which B2B (supplying other operators)€688.3 million
Live tables, end of 2025About 500, across 17 studios
LicenseesMore than 180
StaffAbout 7,400

The company has also just changed shape. In 2025 it completed the €2.3 billion sale of Snaitech, its Italian betting and gaming operator, and paid shareholders a special dividend of about €1.8 billion. Chief executive Mor Weizer calls 2025 a return “to our roots as a leading, global, predominantly pure-play B2B business”. The consumer brands it still owns, mainly Sun Bingo, are now a small part of the group.

One small inconsistency is worth flagging. The About Us page and the results announcement both give about 7,400 staff. The Locations page, in the copy archived in July 2026, says “over c.7,900 employees”. We have used the lower figure from the audited results period.

What the UK Licence Covers

The licence we checked on a regulator’s own register is in Great Britain. The UK Gambling Commission lists Playtech Plc, account 38516, with a head office on Fetter Lane in London. On 20 October 2026 the register showed these activities, all marked active:

ActivityTypeActive from
CasinoRemote1 November 2014
General Betting Standard (real event)Remote1 November 2014
Gambling SoftwareRemote25 September 2014
BingoRemote24 March 2021
Gaming Machine Technical (full)Remote6 February 2026
Gambling SoftwareNon-remote10 September 2018
Gaming Machine Technical (full)Non-remote6 February 2026

Playtech’s About Us page says it holds licences in “more than 40 regulated jurisdictions”, and the results announcement puts the number of regulated and regulating jurisdictions it operates in at more than 50. We did not check the other regulators’ registers for this page. What the UK entry shows is a supplier licensed to provide software and casino games to British operators. It does not reach a casino licensed in Curaçao or Anjouan that happens to stream a Playtech table.

Live Tables: Then and Now

Playtech Live, its live dealer business, is the part of the company that has changed most visibly. In February 2017 Playtech announced what it called the world’s largest live casino studio, an 8,500 square metre building on the old town walls of Riga, Latvia. The same press release said Playtech Live also had studios in the Philippines, Spain and Belgium, plus a newly opened one in Romania. Its Romania page says the Romanian operation, PTR Live Technologies, has run since 2016 and now employs more than 550 people. The Latvia page still calls Riga “the Headquarters of Live Studios around the Globe”.

The live casino page Playtech was showing in January 2026 draws a different map. It lists the flagship facility in Latvia, studios in Romania and Spain, sites in Peru and Brazil, and the United States, with dedicated studios in Michigan, New Jersey and Pennsylvania and a studio on the casino floor of the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The Philippines is no longer named, and there is no Asian studio on the page.

The 2025 results explain where the investment is going:

  • Total live tables rose to about 500 across 17 studios, from more than 450 a year earlier.
  • The three US studios ran more than 60 tables by the end of 2025, up from more than 35, and Playtech says it is still adding capacity there.
  • A new studio in São Paulo was completed for the Brazilian market, which Playtech has counted as regulated since 1 January 2025.
  • The Las Vegas studio streams blackjack, roulette and baccarat, plus a Family Feud game show, to players in regulated markets outside the United States.

Live revenue grew 6% at constant currency in 2025. Strict new rules in Brazil held it back, and in the UK one customer cut back on its dedicated tables.

For scale, our page on Evolution’s live studios reports roughly 2,000 tables across 24 studios at the end of 2025. Playtech is the smaller live supplier by that measure. It competes through dedicated tables built for a single operator and through branded game shows tied to television and film rights, such as Deal or No Deal, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? and Jumanji.

Asia: Out of the Spotlight, Not Out of the Accounts

Asian players rarely appear in Playtech’s own marketing now, but they still show up in its accounts. The company reports regulated and unregulated revenue separately. In 2025 its unregulated revenue was €128.9 million, down 17% from €155.9 million, mainly because Brazil moved into the regulated column. Playtech says its strategy is to focus on regulated markets while “prioritising unregulated jurisdictions with a credible pathway towards future regulation”. The announcement does not say how much of the €128.9 million came from Asia.

Two notes in the accounts tell you more about how Playtech’s games reach Asian lobbies:

  • A change of distributor. Playtech ended its contracts with two Asia distributors in 2024. In September 2024 it signed a five-year agreement with a new distributor in Asia. The results do not name any of the three companies.
  • Unpaid money written off. Playtech has made a provision of €38.7 million against amounts the two former distributors owed it, which it describes as “a 100% provision of all unpaid balances”. It also agreed to pay them a total of €24.5 million under the termination agreements, the last €1.5 million of which was settled in January 2026. Part of that money related to a non-compete period that ran to the end of 2025.

For a player in Malaysia, Singapore or Thailand the practical meaning is simple. A Playtech slot or live table in your casino’s lobby has most likely arrived through a distributor, not a direct contract with Playtech’s licensed UK business. The casino’s own licence is what covers your account, and the UK register entry above is not evidence about it.

The Games, and the One RTP Playtech Publishes

Playtech’s casino page says it runs eight content studios and more than 1,000 games, with more than 60 new releases a year. Its studios include Quickspin in Sweden, Eyecon and Rarestone in Australia, Ash Gaming, and Playtech Origins, whose designers work from Gibraltar, Estonia, Ukraine, Israel and Bulgaria. The branded slots draw on licences from AMC, Paramount, MGM and Warner Bros., with titles such as Gladiator, The Mummy, Rocky and Breaking Bad.

Three game families come up repeatedly:

  • Age of the Gods. A suite of Greek and Roman mythology slots, running since 2016, linked to a four-tier progressive jackpot. Playtech’s casino page notes that the jackpot is “subject to territory regulation”. It also calls Age of the Gods the first jackpot “available across multiple verticals”: in 2017 the same pot was linked to a live roulette table, and Playtech reported a £599,380.45 top-tier win on that table from a player at an operator called Casino.com. Our guide to how progressive jackpots work explains why a jackpot that size is paid for by a small slice of every other player’s stake. Playtech’s press release says the same in its own words: “a small percentage a player’s stake goes towards” the four tiers.
  • Fire Blaze. A series of Hold and Respin slots launched in 2019, since split into Fire Blaze Classics, Mega Fire Blaze, Fire Blaze Golden and Fire Blaze Quattro. It has also been carried over to live games: Mega Fire Blaze Roulette, Blackjack and Lucky Ball.
  • Quantum. An original live suite that Playtech puts alongside its blackjack variants as “classics with modern twists”, led by Quantum Roulette.

The casino page says the progressive network has more than 80 games. Neither that page nor the live page gives a return-to-player figure for any of these games. The only RTP we found on Playtech’s product pages is for Blackjack VZN, a multiplayer blackjack game with seven seats and no human dealer or physical cards, which Playtech says has “an industry-leading RTP of 99.55%”. Two cautions apply. It is an RNG game, not a live table, and Playtech’s page does not give the rules behind the figure. Our house edge tables show how much a blackjack game’s edge moves with the deck count, whether the dealer hits soft 17 and what a blackjack pays. Whatever the game, the help or paytable screen inside the game at your casino is the place to look for the return that build pays.

Who Carries Playtech Among the Casinos We Reviewed

The list further down this page is read from the same data files as our reviews. It covers six casinos: 96M, Dafabet, Maxim88, me88, Starbuck88 and W88. None of them is covered by Playtech’s UK licence. Their own licences range from a Curaçao licence we found on the public register (Dafabet’s Osmila N.V.) and an Anjouan licence on that register (me88) to Curaçao, PAGCOR and CEZA licences that the operators state but we could not confirm, and in Starbuck88’s case no confirmed regulator at all.

Two points from our research are useful before you deposit with one of them. Playtech appearing in a lobby tells you which studio built the games, not that the casino has been vetted. And bonus terms do not always let you play the games you came for. When we compared me88 and BK8’s welcome offers, Playtech was on the list of providers whose slots do not count towards me88’s 288% bonus.

Live tables and jackpot slots are both built for long sessions: tables deal around the clock, and a jackpot display keeps showing what you have not won yet. Set a deposit limit and a time limit before you start, and treat any jackpot as a rare outcome you are paying towards, not a plan. Playtech’s games are for adults aged 18 and over. If gambling has stopped being something you control, our responsible gambling resources list free and confidential help in each market we cover.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Playtech a licensed games provider?

Yes. The UK Gambling Commission's register lists Playtech Plc under account 38516, with remote licences for casino, bingo, gambling software, gaming machine technical and real-event betting, all shown as active when we checked on 20 October 2026. Playtech says it works in more than 40 regulated jurisdictions. Those licences cover Playtech as a supplier. They do not license the casino where you play.

Where are Playtech's live casino studios?

Playtech's live casino page names a flagship studio in Latvia, studios in Romania and Spain, sites in Peru and Brazil, and US studios in Michigan, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, plus a studio on the MGM Grand casino floor in Las Vegas. Its 2025 results put the total at about 500 live tables across 17 studios. The current page lists no studio in Asia.

Does Playtech still operate in Asia?

Yes, but through a distributor. Playtech's 2025 results say it ended contracts with two Asia distributors in 2024 and signed a five-year agreement with a new distributor in Asia in September 2024. It has fully provided for €38.7 million owed by the two former distributors. Playtech counts revenue from unregulated markets separately: €128.9 million in 2025.

What is the RTP of Playtech games?

It varies by game, and Playtech's product pages that we read give only one figure: an RTP of 99.55% for Blackjack VZN, which is an RNG game with no live dealer. They give no figures for the Age of the Gods or Fire Blaze slots or the live tables. Open the help or paytable screen of the game at your casino, which should show the return for that build.

How does the Age of the Gods jackpot work?

Playtech describes it as a four-tier progressive jackpot that is shared across its Age of the Gods slots and other products, including a live roulette table. A small share of each stake feeds the pot, and in the live game the jackpot can be triggered at random on any spin. Playtech notes that the jackpots are subject to territory regulation, so not every casino will offer all four.
